Objectives

1. To enhance, improve and empower, with a sense of honour, dignity and self­-respect, the lives of the impoverished and victims of war, unrest, natural and/or man-made disasters and other humanitarian tragedies and disasters by promoting and organising humanitarian relief efforts and encouraging, undertaking, embarking on and managing activities and projects.
2. To render emergency assistance and humanitarian relief to the impoverished and victims of war, unrest, natural and/or man-made disasters and other humanitarian tragedies and disasters.
3. To promote, cultivate and encourage humanitarianism among its members and the public.
4. To promote and encourage a civil life of compassion, care and volunteerism among its members and the public.
5. To educate and promote awareness in the Singapore Community and the public of the suffering of the impoverished and victims of war, unrest, natural and/or man-made disasters and other humanitarian tragedies and disasters by promoting, undertaking and embarking on research activities.
6. To achieve the above objects, the Company shall do all such lawful things which are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them and provided that nothing shall be done solely for commercial reasons of profit. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, the Company may:-
a. make donations and provide funding and other resources for humanitarian aid programmes;
b. provide research facilities, consultation services and skills training in humanitarian relief work;
c. raise funds through lawful means for the purposes of contributing to any humanitarian aid programme;
d. conduct and carry out activities, projects, and seminars to provide the necessary training and guidance in skills development for the impoverished and victims of war, unrest, natural and/or man-made disasters and other humanitarian tragedies and disasters poor for the purpose of improving and promoting their economic/business activity in the economy, and to provide them with the necessary tools of trade if need be;
e. do all such lawful things as are necessary for the advancement of the interests and lives of the poor and the suffering;
f. collaborate and cooperate with any other humanitarian aid agencies and organisations involved in humanitarian relief programmes and with similar humanitarian goals;
g. enter into any cooperative arrangements with the Government, statutory bodies or any other organisations that may seem conducive to the Company's objects, or any of them; and obtain from the Government, statutory bodies or any other organisations, any rights, privileges, and concessions which the Company may think it desirable to obtain; and to carry out, exercise, and comply with any such cooperative arrangements, rights, privileges and concessions, for the purposes of the Company;
h. purchase, take on lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real and personal estate or property which may be deemed necessary or convenient for any of the purposes of the Company;
i. obtain, collect and receive monies and funds by way of contribution, donation, affiliation fees, subscriptions, legacies, grants and any other lawful method, and accept and receive gifts of property of any description (whether subject to any special trust or not);
j. construct, maintain, alter and upkeep any house, building or works necessary or convenient for the purposes of the Company;
k. take all necessary steps for the purpose of procuring contributions to the Company in any form;
l. sell, manage, lease, dispose of, transfer or otherwise deal with all or any part of the property of the Company, for the purposes of the Company;
m. acquire by subscription, purchase or otherwise, to accept and take, hold and sell, shares or stock in any company, corporation or undertaking for the purposes of the Company;
n. undertake and execute any trust or any agency business which may seem directly or indirectly conducive to any of the objects of the Company;
o. establish and aid in the establishment of any charity or institution of a public character and to subscribe to, support, aid in the support of or otherwise aid benevolent, charitable, national or other charitable institutions and to grant donations to any charity or institution of a public character approved and registered under the Charities Act for the purposes of the Company;
p. pay all costs, charges and expenses incurred or sustained in or about the promotion and establishment of the Company and to remunerate any person or persons for services rendered in the promotion and establishment of the Company;
q. accept stock or shares in, or the debentures, mortgage debentures or other securities of any company, corporation or society in payment or part payment for any services rendered or for any sale made to or debt owing from any such company, corporation or society;
r. subject to the approval of the Minister, borrow or raise money from local banks and other financial institutions in such manner as the Company shall think fit and to secure the repayment of any money borrowed, raised or owing by mortgage, charge or lien upon all or any of the property or assets of the Company (both present and future);
s. to bring or defend any litigation proceedings or other court applications that the Company deems necessary to assert and/or protect its legal rights and/or interests, to enable, assist or permit the Company to attain any of the objects of the Company herein expressed and/or any lawful thing incidental or conducive to the attainment of those objects, and/or to vindicate the good name of the Company;
t. to do all such other lawful things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them;
u. to mobilise, organise and coordinate resources to facilitate and assist in humanitarian relief programmes and efforts whether in Singapore or in any other countries in need where the effects of war, unrest, natural and/or man-made disasters, poor economic and/or social conditions have rendered suffering on its people regardless of their religion and ethnicity;
v. to organise, develop and support self-help and humanitarian aid programmes and relief work anywhere in the world through the process of multi-ethnic and multi-religious engagement and cooperation; and
w. to promote the research and development of effective humanitarian policies.
