ESG Playbook for Charities
ESG principles have gained significant importance among investors, policymakers and key stakeholders as they help safeguard organisations against future risks.

Corporates are also increasingly focused on maximising their investments to drive social impact, and donors and beneficiaries are favouring charities that demonstrate strong ESG commitments. By integrating ESG principles, charities can garner greater support from stakeholder support and contribute to sustainable development and driving social impact in the communities they serve.

Charity Council has partnered with KPMG in Singapore to co-develop an ESG Playbook for Charities. The new ESG Playbook is designed to help charities further integrate ESG principles into their day-to-day operations. It provides actionable steps and best practices that charities can take based on their ESG-maturity stage and how such efforts may be communicated to their stakeholders.

Review of the Charity Transparency Framework and the Charity Transparency and Governance Awards process
As announced by Ms. Theresa Goh, Chairperson of the Charity Council, at the Charity Transparency and Governance Awards 2023 ceremony, the Charity Transparency and Governance Awards will be held biennially starting in 2026.

With the implementation of the revised Code of Governance in April 2024, we will review the Charity Transparency Framework and the Charity Transparency and Governance Awards process. Charities will therefore have more time to reflect on their work and implement good governance practices and internal controls following their participation in the awards.

The next awards ceremony will be in 2026, where we will assess charities’ annual submissions for the financial years ending in 2023 and 2024.
